“Teaching students the importance of attending school every day gets them into the kind of good habits they will need when they reach the work world," said BUSD Superintendent Kathy McNamara. The attendance numbers kept dropping for a variety of reasons and the District realized something needed to be done to reverse the tide of bad attendance practices.
With the aid of School Attendance Review Board (SARB) and district employees, the Perfect Attendance program was created. Each student who achieves a perfect attendance record for a month will receive a reward. There are opportunities to win special prizes for perfect attendance during a semester.
There are savings bonds offered for a perfect year of attendance.Elias Jouen, Chief Business Officer for BUSD explains that the district's budget is built on projected enrollment.
