Die Hard. Movie Review

Die Hard. Movie review

This is one of my favorite all time action movies. The cast of characters starring Bruce Willis, Alan Rickman and many more, have brought out the true definition of entertainment in this film.

I own the special edition in the silver box. I won’t give this movie up for anything. This film is action packed and full of suspense and drama, with many streaks of momentary comedy too.

Though the film is rated  ‘R’ because of violence, language and suggestive behavior, it is simply a film that has to be seen and enjoyed by all adult audiences. Die Hard has become the iconic classic it deserves to be.

It’s apparent that a lot of work went into this movie, which involved explosives, numerous police cars and several pieces of aircraft. The special effects were done so well, I can honestly say, “I can’t see how it could’ve been any better than it is”.

Bruce Willis’s performance was so life like, …one could easily get caught up in this film as if you were right there in the middle of all the drama. A performance this realistic and lifelike by actors is what makes such a great movie.

The stage sets were very influential too. The detail in background and sound apparently surrendered to no expense at all. All the detail is there. From the footage of highly detailed offices with cluttered desks, to the lifelike appearance of utility area’s that weren’t harmed by the presence of stage lights. The detail is all there.

As for stage lights, …I haven’t observed any part of this film where stage lighting was a concern. Proper, realistic light levels were consistent through the entire movie. I haven’t even noticed reflections of stage lights anywhere in the film. Considering the amount of windows used in all the stage sets, I really have to applaud the work of Director John McTiernan. Extremely well done!

I’ve heard some people talk about bloopers in this film, such as when Bruce Willis is sitting on the bathroom counter pulling glass out of his feet while talking back and forth on a walkie-talkie without pushing the talk button on the radio. Or when the cops tried using tools to cut the front doors open, when all they had to do was kick a window out.

First of all, these are not bloopers. This is inserted drama. This is something the filming industry does to keep the viewers glued to the screen, such as the scene with the front doors. That scene is supposed to get the viewer’s attention and leave you thinking ‘oh look at what they’re doing now, they mean business.’ This is drama. In this film, the drama runs healthy and strong. That’s exactly what entertainment is all about.

I was raised in Wisconsin as a hard working individual. As a teenager I worked on a farm until I became a adult. I have never worked less than two jobs at a time until I turned 44.

I don’t, … (and never have) smoke, drink, drug or gamble. In 2005 I successfully gave up caffeine entirely and haven’t had any since.

My hobbies are automobiles, electronics, driving and photography.

I have many friends, and I am well known in the tri-village area I live in.

My adult careers that stayed with me long term are ‘commercial driver’ and ‘loss prevention agent’.

My dislikes in life include bullies, the civilian ownership of ‘exotic’ firearms, organized crime, pornography and people who beat females and children.
